Ice Cream Adventures! Sweet Potato Ice Cream, Enoshima, Japan

January 16, 2013

A quick post about my ice cream adventures in Japan. I stumbled upon sweet potato ice cream, which wasn’t bad at all. Quite a sweet mild flavour with a hint of potato; a very interesting flavour.

How long are you in Japan? Any chance you’ll get to Sapporo? If so…you *must* make it to Barnes. Probably the best example of Japanese ice cream making I’ve encountered. The owner there is someone you should chat with!

Hi there! I’m sorry to say that I am no longer in Japan (sigh). I was in Yokohama but couldn’t find any small independent ice cream shops. Are you Japanese? Barnes Ice Cream looks good; I wish I had come across it when I was there!

I made Sweet Potato and Kahlua Ice Cream and Purple Yam and Coconut Ice Cream recently! Recipes here: http://52scoops.wordpress.com/recipes/ I’ve never tried it in soft serve format though. Looks yummy.
