Hello Ruben, I live in Hungary and I’m about to buy an ice cream maker. Upon your opinion I’m really impressed by Cuisinart ice100! However the closest place from I can buy it is the UK from amazon, and shipping would reasonably raise its price. What I could easily get is Cuisinart ICE40BCE Ice Cream Maker Duo. I could find only a couple of reviews about it. Though it would be much cheaper than the ice100 I wouldn’t be happy with a much poorer quality.
Have you heard anything about it Ruben?
Thanks for answering,kind regards,Aniko 🙂

Hi there Aniko!
Thanks for getting in touch. I’ve been to your beautiful country before and loved the gulash! I haven’t tried the Cuisinart ICE-40 before but I think all the Cuisinart bowl designs are the same. I love my Cuisinart ICE-30 so if the bowls on the ICE-40 are the same design as the ICE-30, albeit smaller, then I’d say yes go for the ICE-40 if it is reasonably priced.
You will have to freeze the bowls in an extremely cold freezer to get the best ice cream. I freeze my ICE-30 bowl in my freezer at about -25°C for 24 hours before I make my ice cream. I tested it before by freezing the bowl at -18°C for 24 hours and found that it took longer to freeze a batch of ice cream and the texture wasn’t as good.
My only slight criticism of the ICE-40 is the small 1 quart capacity of each of the bowls. If you can find a reasonably priced Cuisinart ICE-30 in Hungary, then I would recommend that over the ICE-40 because of the bigger bowl. Either way, both the ICE-30 and ICE-40 will be a great machine for you to start testing your ice cream!
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
All the best to you in Hungary,
